Aggies to Add Running Backs Coach

Posted Monday, August 09, 2010 by staff
Aggie head football coach Mike Wyatt has announced that the OPSU Aggie football team will add a new restricted earnings coach to the staff.  ShaRon Edwards, a star running back from Illinois State who also starred in the NFL Europe for the Franfurt Galaxy and was in camp with the Atlanta Falcons will join the Aggies this week to coach a talented group of Aggie running backs.

Edwards most recently played professionally in Italy  and had previously played for Coach Wyatt with the RiverCity Rage.  Edwards was the top rusher in the National Indoor Football League where he helped the Rage to a 14-2 record and semi-final playoff appearance.  Also on that team was Aggie offensive coordinator Seth Womack.  Sven Hack, Aggie offensive line coach and Mark Wilson, Aggie defensive coordinator also were on the coaching staff with the Rage.

It will be great for our athletes to have ShaRon here as an example and to benefit from his experience.  Edwards replaces Don Goodno, who had been with the Aggies for the past three seasons.  Goodno had earlier accpeted the positoin of offensive line coach at Mt. St. Mary's High School in Oklahoma City.

"ShaRon is an outstanding man and will be a fine addition to our coaching staff.  He will be an excellent fit, as he has played for me and knows a good portion of our coaching staff already.  We are fortunate that he has agreed to help us out. " stated Mike Wyatt, OPSU head football coach.
