A Lauch to Win the Job

Posted Saturday, August 07, 2010 by staff
Finally the day has arrived and for Aggie junior quarterback from Lodi, California, Kevin Lauchland, it could not have come soon enough.  Lauchland has bid his time waiting in the wings for his chance to lead the Aggies.  After two years of laboring behind departing senior Vinnie Gay, Lauchland's time has come and he looks to make the most of it.

Lauchland saw limited action as a feshman in 2007, then redshirted in 2008.  In 2009, he played the understudy role to Vinnie Gay who just recently returned from a successful professional debut in the Austrian Football League.  But, now the Aggies know that for them to reach the success that they expect, Kevin Lauchland must become their field general.

"Kevin has paid his dues and has worked hard to get himself in the position to successfully lead this team.  He has the mental and physical tools to be a fine quarterback.  He also has a pretty good cast around him with whom to work." stated Aggie head football coach, Mike Wyatt.

Lauchland will get help from two returning All Americans in wide receiver Doug Williams and running back Darryl Brister.  He will also welcome back three All Independents selections in the offensive line in Quinton Jones, Tim O'Neil and Brian Armandariz.  But, at the end of the day, it will be Lauchland who drives the bus.

Lauchland's Aggies begin their preparations for the 2010 season on Saturday, August 7 and are expecting more than 130 players in camp.  With 18 starters  back from a 5-6 team in 2009 and 50 players in the junior and senior classes, hopes run high for a great 2010 season.

"We are excited about all our players that are back and we feel we have a good group of newcomers than can help us, as well.  It's time to tee it up and have some fun."  added Wyatt.
