Wyatt's Hall of Fame-RB: ShaRon Edwards

Posted Monday, July 28, 2008 by Staff
One of the all time best running backs to play for Coach Wyatt is Sha-Ron Edwards. Sha-Ron, from Illinois State, was an All Gateway Conference performer who came to play for the RiverCity Rage in St. Louis in 2005. In 2006, he was the National Indoor Football League's top rusher with 872 yards in 12 games while scoring 34 TDs.

As a senior running back at Illinois State, Sha-Ron rushed for 1409 yards and scored 14 TDs.

In 2007, the 6'-220 lb., Edwards was drafted by the Berlin Thunder in the NFL-Europe and then was traded near the mid-point of the season to the Frankfurt Galaxy where he became the team's leading rusher, helping guide the team to the World Bowl. With the NFL-Europe closing up shop, Edwards will have the distinction of having played and scored a TD in the last World Bowl game.

In the fall of 2007, Sha-Ron signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons and was released at the end of training camp. He is currently playing for the Tyreso Royal Crowns in Sweden while awaiting a call up from the NFL.

"I have been fortunate to have some fine running backs play for me, but Sha-Ron is one of the best. He is an equally fine man, as well and an excellent role model for young athletes ." Stated Wyatt.
