Clay Groefsema first played for Coach Wyatt when Wyatt was head football coach of the Rhein Main Razorbacks in the German Football League. The former University of Redlands star went on to lead the Razorbacks to a South Conference Championship and a berth in the GFL semi-finals in 2003. During that season, Groefsema passed for 49 TDs, completing 63.2% of his passes for 4401 passing yards and wound up with a QB rating of 201.74 in 12 games that year.

Groefsema later joined Wyatt with the RiverCity Rage in St. Louis, leading the team to a an Atlantic East Division Championship in 2005 and an Atlantic North Championship in 2006 ending the season at 14-2 in the semi-finals.

In 2007, Groefsema starred for the Central Valley Coyotes in the AF2 league and was twice named AF2 National Player of the Week before being felled by injury.

"I have had a lot of great quarterbacks in my 30 years in the business, but Clay would have to rank right up there with the best of them" stated Wyatt.
