st Down: What motivates you as a college football player? "What motivates me is that I am one of seven thousand lucky individuals given the opportunity to play college football. I am achieving what many people could only dream of."

nd Down: You have been exposed to professional football through you association with the Amarillo Dusters. What did you learn from those players? "Working with the Dusters was a great learning experience for me. I have learned many things from those guys. Most important though is to cherish your time on the field because it is limited you never know what play could be your last. Also I have seen that a less talented team that plays with intensity and swagger can beat the more talented teams."

rd Down: What advice would you give high school players looking to play football at the college level? "The advice that I would give is that it doesnt matter where you go to school, what really determines your sucess is how you handle the opportunities given to you."

th Down: You are active in the OPSU FCA Huddle, what does FCA mean to you? "I figured out a long time ago that you can't go through life by yourself, people need each other and we all need the Lord. Also FCA brings us together as a team and gives us a chance to mold and build the relationships off the field that many great teams have. These guys are like my brothers and I have their back on and off the field."

Editor's Note: Slade McCarty's brother Warren McCarty is former General Manager of the Amarillo Dusters Arena 2 Football Team. Slade had the opportunity to work with the Dusters during that time.
