Aggie Gridiron Legends: Charley North

Charley North, a Waggoner, Oklahoma native, was a 2 time All Conference Center for the Aggies in 1964 and 1965 earning his degree in 1966. North is known throughout the region for his 40 years in coaching collegiate football at some of the most storied programs in America.

Most recently, Charley was Director of Football Operations at Texas A & M in 2007 and while with the Aggies participated in his 25th collegiate bowl game. North also spent two seasons at Alabama and 3 seasons at TCU in the same capacity.

North was offensive line coach at the University of Arkansas for three years from 1995-97. Prior to that he coached the offensive line and also tight ends at the University of Oklahoma for 16 years and was a part of the Sooners 1985 national championship team. He was credited with the Sooners signing of All American tight end Keith Jackson.

Prior to his collegiate coaching career, North boasted a 64-12 record as a high school head football coach at Tecumseh and McAlester.
